教授／諏訪 元 （すわ げん）
人類形態研究室
総合研究博物館
主として、化石の記録から人類のたどってきた進化の道筋を研究している。特にエチオピアをフィールドとし、1980年代から野外調査に従事、新発見の人類ならびに哺乳動物化石の記載ならびに比較研究に従事してきた。1990年代からは、マイクロCTなどを使用した3次元形状解析を化石ならびに現生標本の比較研究に取り入れてきた。現在は、ラミダス猿人、カダバ猿人など世界最古級の人類化石の一次研究、人類と類人猿の歯冠構造に関する比較形態学的研究、コンソ遺跡群の初期人類と哺乳動物相の進化と古環境的背景に関する研究、日本の人骨資料に基づいた形態進化に関する基礎的研究などに従事している。
